Campfire Stuffed French Toast

This easy campfire stuffed French toast is a family-favorite camping breakfast made with Texas toast or brioche and whipped strawberry cream cheese. Cook it over a campfire or camp stove for a warm, kid-friendly meal everyone will love.

Ingredients
  

  • 8 slices Texas toast or brioche bread
  • 1 container whipped strawberry cream cheese spread
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 tbsp granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 2 –3 tbsp butter for cooking

Method
 

Assemble the Sandwiches
  1. Spread a thick layer of whipped strawberry cream cheese on one side of half of the bread slices.
  2. Top with remaining slices to form sandwiches.
Make Egg Mixture
  1. In a bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, sugar, and cinnamon until well combined.
Dip Sandwiches
  1. Dip each sandwich into the egg mixture, coating both sides completely.
Campfire Cooking Instructions
  1. Heat a cast iron skillet or griddle over medium campfire heat.
  2. Add butter and allow it to melt.
  3. Place sandwiches onto the skillet.
  4. Cook for 3–5 minutes per side, or until golden brown and heated through.
Camp Stove / Griddle Instructions
  1. Preheat skillet or griddle over medium heat.
  2. Melt butter on the surface.
  3. Cook sandwiches until golden brown on both sides, about 3–5 minutes per side.

Notes

 

  • Cut sandwiches into strips to make French toast dunking sticks for kids.
  • Keep heat moderate to avoid burning the outside before the inside warms.
  • You can prep sandwiches and egg mixture ahead of time for easy camping mornings.
  • Store egg mixture in a sealed container in your cooler until ready to use.
